Before you read on

Most of this only matters once.

The wedding-industry default is to make booking feel complicated. We've tried, where we can, to do the opposite.

The page below is grouped by the order things usually come up — booking and deposits first, then what's actually in the packages, then style, then how you receive everything afterwards. If you'd rather just ask the question directly, the contact form hits the same inbox and you'll hear back within one working day.

Note · If your question is about a specific venue, ceremony time or guest count, it's usually faster to write to us — we'll answer with your day in mind, not the average.

01 Booking · Deposits · Calendar

How dates, deposits and refunds work.

Wedding dates are removed from the calendar the day your deposit lands. The rules below all come from that simple fact.

Q01My wedding is over a year away — how early can I book?+
Q01

We take wedding bookings for any date within the next 24 months. If your date is more than 18 months away, we'll provisionally hold it for you while you finalise the rest of your plans.

There's no penalty for booking early — quite the opposite. Earlier bookings get first pick of dates, particularly across the Northern Irish summer months.

+
Q02Is there a deposit to pay to book a wedding?+
Q02

Not if you book by direct debit. Direct-debit wedding bookings have no upfront deposit: the plan starts the monthly schedule instead.

If you choose another payment route, any booking deposit is confirmed in writing in your quote before you commit.

+
Q03Will I get an invoice and proof of payment?+
Q03

Yes. Every booking is invoiced the moment you confirm you'd like to go ahead. If you book by direct debit, the payment schedule records the instalments as they are collected. If you pay a deposit another way, you'll get a paid invoice when it reaches us.

+
Q04If I have to cancel, is my deposit refunded?+
Q04

Deposits are non-refundable. The reasoning is simple: once you confirm a date, we remove it from the calendar — meaning we can't re-book it. This clause complies with long-distance selling regulations.

The fair-play exception: if you need to move your wedding to a different date, you'll get one free re-book without losing the deposit. Most couples never need it. It's there if you do.

In shortFor deposit bookings: one date held, one deposit, one free move. Direct-debit bookings follow the payment-plan terms instead.

02 Packages · Inclusions · Extras

What you're actually paying for.

A clear list of what comes as standard, what's optional, and the bits we deliberately don't pad out.

Q05What's the all-inclusive wedding package?+
Q05

The package price includes the photographer's time on the day, print-ready edited images, your private digital gallery, a disc of images and a copyright release.

For videography: a 15–20 minute edited film plus the uncut footage of the ceremony and speeches, supplied free of charge.

Standard kitBridal preps add-on (one hour, one address) · 2 & 3 hr packages run as consecutive coverage · All-day photo runs preps through to ~15–20 min after the first dance · Photographer available between meal and evening setup for guest portraits.
+
Q06What's included in a "digital" package?+
Q06

Our packages are digital only. Finished images live in a private online gallery; video lives on Vimeo or YouTube, with the underlying files available to download and keep. These galleries can be shared and downloaded to laptops or desktops.

A note on phones and tablets: due to file size and mobile-OS restrictions, the files aren't designed to be downloaded onto a phone — they're for your computer.

USB sticks: bring as many as you like on the day (8GB+, no extra charge) and we'll copy your products onto them for family and friends. Discs (CD/DVD) are also supplied free of charge.

Why digital onlyKeeping it digital means lower prices, faster turnaround and less waste. We re-use existing packaging where we can — your files won't arrive gift-wrapped, by design.
+
Q07What pictures will you take? Do we need a shot list?+
Q07

First and foremost — we don't know your family, your in-laws, or the dynamic between them, so we won't make assumptions. It's your wedding day; we'll do what you ask.

If you want specific people included or excluded from group photos, please supply a written list before the day. We also ask that you nominate one person in your party to round up family and friends when required — give them a copy of the list, and the formal photos run far more smoothly.

Any unusual or special requirements — let us know in advance, and we'll plan around them.

03 Style · Approach · On the day

How we work, in plain English.

If you've watched a sample film and a sample gallery, you've already seen the style. Here's the reasoning behind it.

Q08What photography style do you follow?+
Q08

Documentary, not cinematic. We capture your day as it naturally unfolds — quiet preparations, the hand squeeze during vows, the carefree late-night dancing — rather than re-staging moments for the camera.

In practice that means gentle direction when it genuinely helps (group photos, a few couple portraits), and otherwise blending into the background. We find it's the most honest representation of the day, and the one couples come back to in five years' time.

Photo and video samples are across the site — they're a more reliable preview than any written description.

+
Q09What is "uncut" video footage?+
Q09

Uncut footage is exactly that — raw, unedited material straight off the cameras. It will naturally contain shots jumping between angles, shakes, quick pans and blurs. That's the nature of unedited footage; it isn't a fault.

This footage is supplied free of charge, as an extra on top of the edited film.

Your edited film will run roughly 5–20 minutes depending on package length and the amount of usable footage. The original audio is removed and replaced with music tracks of your choice. If you'd like some original audio retained in the edit, mention it at booking (subject to a small additional charge).

Add-onFor a clean, stable copy of the full ceremony and speeches we add a second static video camera for a nominal £50 — well worth it if speeches matter.
+
Q10What happens if it rains?+
Q10

Rain is something we are extremely used to working with. We plan for it in advance using covered areas, indoor spaces and sheltered locations at your venue. Some of the most atmospheric photos in our portfolio happen on overcast days — softer light, dramatic skies.

If the weather changes, we adapt quickly and keep the mood relaxed. You don't need a separate plan for every scenario. That's part of the job.

04 Delivery · Timelines · Backups

When the gallery lands — and how long it stays.

Realistic timeframes, what arrives where, and an honest note on long-term storage.

Q11How soon do we get our photos?+
Q11

Family photos: available within 2 days of the shoot.

Wedding photos: available within a week of the wedding.

Each image is individually edited for consistency and quality before it goes into your private online gallery — ready to view, download and share.

+
Q12Do we get the raw, unedited camera files too?+
Q12

Short answer: no — and it's a deliberate line, not something we'll budge on at booking. What you do get is our finished work: print-ready, individually edited photographs and (where booked) an edited highlights film plus uncut exports of the ceremony and speeches.

What you don't get is the camera RAW image files (.CR2 / .NEF / .ARW depending on the body), the unselected outtakes, the half-blinks, or the camera-source video clips before encode. A RAW file is the photographer's negative — soft, flat, only usable inside editing software — and the colour, contrast and feel of our work happens in our edit, not at the sensor. Handing the RAWs over would land you with files that look nothing like our portfolio, and handing the outtakes over would mean shipping you the frames we deliberately rejected.

If a specific look or treatment matters to you, raise it at booking and we'll talk it through. We just don't release the raw camera files — same as virtually every professional wedding studio.

What you receivePrint-ready edited photographs · private online gallery · copyright release for personal use · edited highlights film (where booked) · uncut ceremony & speeches export. Outtakes and camera RAWs stay with us.
+
Q13How long do you keep my footage?+
Q13

Once you've received your finished files, we don't keep copies on our end. Storage at the volumes we now produce is genuinely expensive, and the costs would inevitably pass on to every couple.

Instead, we supply online galleries plus an advert-free copy of your video, which you're free to download as many times as you'd like. Once you have your finished product, please make your own backups — multiple copies, in more than one place, is the right answer.

Belt & bracesDownload the original files, copy them to an external drive, and consider a cloud backup (Google Photos, iCloud, Dropbox). Your gallery is online but won't be there forever.
+
Q14Why do your public galleries sometimes go quiet for months?+
Q14

Because we only ever publish a couple's photographs or film once they've given us explicit permission. Plenty of couples would rather keep their day private, and we always respect that.

So our public portfolio and social feeds reflect who's happy to be shared, not how many weddings we've actually photographed. A quiet stretch usually means we've been busy with couples who'd prefer not to appear online — not that we've slowed down.

05 Family · Engagement · Studio

Family & engagement shoots, briefly.

Wedding photography is the bulk of what we do — but we also run a small home studio near Portaferry for family sittings and engagement portraits.

Q15Where are family photos taken — studio or at home?+
Q15

The studio-quality sitting is only available at our home studio near Portaferry — controlled light, backdrop options, the whole setup.

Location and engagement shoots are run wherever you like. Travel charges may apply depending on the distance; we'll always quote that up front.

+
Q16What can we do during a family shoot?+
Q16

Anything you like inside the booked hour: different poses, outfit changes, hair and make-up adjustments between sets. If it's legal, we'll happily do it.

+
Q17Can I book a family shoot without paying a deposit?+
Q17

Yes — if you want the shoot within the next 3 days, the full amount can be paid on the day rather than splitting it into deposit and balance.

For bookings further out, a normal deposit holds your slot.

06 About this site

One last behind the scenes.

A question we get more often than you'd think.

Q18Who designed your website?+
Q18

This site was designed and built by Folium Studio, who specialise in high-end, HTML-first websites.

Every page is hand-built rather than assembled in a page builder, and served from the Cloudflare edge network — so it loads fast wherever you happen to be browsing from.

Still got a question

If your question isn't here, just ask.

Most decisions get easier with a five-minute conversation — your venue, ceremony time, rough guest count and we'll come back with a recommended shape before you commit to anything.

Reply within one working day, no obligation to book. We'll happily put together a custom quote for unusual venues, destination weddings or non-standard timings.
