A rough day-of guide

How a typical wedding day runs.

Depending on the package booked, not every section will apply — but this gives you a general shape of how things flow and how we plan around the key moments.

Bride preps

We arrive at your address around an hour before the ceremony. We try to capture the last-minute touches — the girls together, sharing a drink, sitting and chatting. Natural rather than staged. Then a few frames once you've dressed, the moment your dad sees you, you with your mum.

Add-onIf you haven't added bridal preps and want to, get in touch — we can add it for an extra fee.
Groom preps If booked

If the groom is within 5 minutes of the bride, we're happy to include groom preps in the same window — we add an extra 15 minutes, though it leaves less time with the bride.

Full groom preps can be added as an option (subject to time and distance). Aim to leave the house at least 10 minutes before the bride.

Ceremony

Setup at the church or venue 10–15 minutes before the ceremony starts. Full video recording where the priest or registrar allows it — some have restrictions on movement, and we work within whatever rules apply.

  • Religious services typically run around an hour
  • Civil services typically run 20–30 minutes
  • Photos outside the venue afterwards (weather & guest-dependent)
Reception arrival

If the ceremony and reception are at different venues, we leave for the reception — sometimes stopping en route for photos or video. Arrive at the venue 1–3 hours before the meal call, depending on whether we've stopped or gone elsewhere for photos.

If we're not stopping, please allow at least 90 minutes at the reception venue to capture portraits, guests, family, the bridal party and details.

  • Photo/video recording of speeches in full and guest snippets for the edited video
  • Time for us to rest and eat
  • Cake cutting — usually about 90 minutes after the meal starts
  • Dessert served
Evening dances

The room is cleared and the DJ/band set up — allow 45–120 minutes. During this window, we're available to take guest portraits on request; all are supplied free of charge in your gallery, so let people know.

  • First dance — photos and video (let us know if you have something special planned, and we'll record it in full with audio)
  • Father / daughter, mother / son
  • Bridal party
  • One song with guests
Goodbye

We typically wrap around 21:30–22:00 — time to say goodbye and leave the rest of the evening to you and your guests.

A few things to know

Honest notes on quality & delivery.

  • All audio is subject to the original quality being good enough — venues vary.
  • Length of video and quantity of photos depend on the amount of usable footage. Usually this is down to how willing the wedding party and guests are to engage. Weather sometimes means we can't go outside, which will restrict what we can do. Our aim is quality over quantity.
  • Our wedding videos tend to be longer than others on YouTube or Vimeo — we try to include as much of your day as we can, with variety, not just ceremony and speeches. This adds editing time, so we allow about a month to supply the final video. Photos generally arrive within a few days of the wedding.
  • Unedited footage of speeches and ceremony is exactly that — unedited, from a static camera in the best position we can get. In churches the position is often restricted; we have no influence over the rules but always speak to the priest on the day.
