Short coverage wedding photography

Is 2 hours enough for wedding photography?

For many weddings, yes — 2 hours can be exactly the right amount of coverage.

Short wedding photography coverage works best when the day is focused around a single location and a clear set of priorities. This usually includes the ceremony itself, a short portrait session, and a small number of family or group photos immediately afterwards.

Registry-office weddings, smaller venues, weekday ceremonies and intimate celebrations often don't require full-day photography. In these situations, longer coverage can feel unnecessary, while a focused approach allows the key moments to be captured naturally and efficiently.

Based in Northern Ireland, we regularly photograph short-coverage weddings across Belfast and beyond. The 2-hour option focuses on the ceremony, couple portraits and a small selection of family photos — giving you a meaningful record of your day without over-coverage.

If you're unsure whether 2 hours is enough for your plans, we're always happy to talk it through. In many cases, a quick look at your ceremony time and venue layout is all that's needed to decide what will work best.

A typical 2-hour wedding day

What we'll actually shoot in 2 hours.

Not a rigid shot list — but the moments almost every 2-hour day delivers. Use it as a rough guide when planning timings with your registrar or venue.

When 2 hours works vs when you'll want more

A focused window is better than padded coverage.

2-hour coverage isn't right for every wedding — but it's exactly right for a lot of them. Here's the honest line we draw between short and longer packages.

Pick 2 hours

When 2 hours works

£250 · photo only

One location (or two side-by-side), a clear ceremony time, and a focus on the key moments rather than the whole day.

  • Registry-office & civil ceremonies (e.g. Belfast City Hall)
  • Smaller wedding venues or intimate celebrations
  • Weekday weddings
  • Ceremony, portraits & family photos all close together

Ideal forCouples who want the key moments captured naturally, without stretching the day or paying for coverage they won't use.

Step up

When 2 hours falls short

£350 – £795 · 3 hr or all day

Multiple locations, a long gap between ceremony and reception, or a wedding that runs preps through to evening.

  • Bridal preps you'd like documented
  • Ceremony and reception at different venues
  • Speeches, cake and first dance on the shot list
  • Larger guest numbers needing more group photos

Ideal forFull-day storytelling — coverage from preps through to 15–20 minutes after the first dance. See the main wedding photography page for the all-day shape.

Can we extend on the day?

Yes — and you don't have to decide today.

Weddings don't always run exactly to plan. Sometimes couples realise they'd like a little extra time for portraits, family photos or relaxed coverage after the ceremony. Where availability allows, extending coverage is usually straightforward.

If you think you might want more time, it's something we can discuss in advance — or decide on the day once things are underway. We'll always be honest about what's realistic based on timing, location and how the day is flowing.

Bespoke add-ons

The package covers the basics — not the whole menu.

Bridal preps, engagement shoots, location portraits before the day, an album or wall canvas after, or a wedding video add-on can all be tacked on to a 2-hour booking.

Tell us what you have in mind when you enquire. We'll work out the cost once we know your plans — and we'll only suggest extras that genuinely add to your day, never to inflate the bill.

2-hour wedding photography · FAQs

Questions we get most often.

Is 2 hours enough for wedding photography?

For many weddings, yes. Two hours covers the ceremony, a short couple portrait session and a small selection of family or group photos. It works best when the day is focused around a single location.

Registry-office ceremonies, smaller venues, weekday weddings and intimate celebrations rarely need more. If your day involves multiple locations or long gaps between events, a 3-hour or all-day package will usually serve you better.

What exactly is included in the 2-hour package?

The wedding ceremony in full, a short couple portrait session and a small selection of family or group photos. Coverage is planned around a single location or venues very close together.

All images are individually edited and delivered digitally via a private online gallery, making it easy to view, download and share. The exact balance of time between ceremony, portraits and group photos can be adjusted to suit your priorities.

Can we extend coverage beyond 2 hours?

Yes — where availability allows, coverage can be extended either in advance or on the day. The 3-hour package adds a drinks reception arrival; the all-day package covers preps through to first dance.

If you're unsure, we can decide on the day once things are underway. We'll always be honest about what's realistic based on timing, location and how the day is flowing.

How much does 2-hour wedding photography cost in NI?

Our 2-hour wedding photography package is £250. A combined 2-hour photo and video package is £500.

Travel charges may apply outside Northern Ireland. Interest-free direct debit payment plans are available on every package — no deposit needed to check availability.

Is 2-hour coverage right for a Belfast City Hall wedding?

Usually, yes. Two hours is the sweet spot for City Hall — arrival, the ceremony itself, signing photos on the grand staircase, group shots in the rotunda, and confetti on Donegall Square. We've shot hundreds of weddings there with this exact shape.

See our Belfast City Hall page for a venue-specific timeline.

How many photos will we receive?

Two hours of focused coverage typically produces a few hundred carefully edited images. We don't limit the number of photos delivered. Every image is individually edited and supplied digitally via a private online gallery.
